A very belated post but nonetheless; here we go!

Lilly & Lou officially launched at KAMERS/makers in November 2023. Sitting oh so pretty adjacent to her sister Miss Milly in one stand. Miss Milly has been around the Kamers block and I felt that it would be great to have the two sisters next to each other – to cater for the pastel flower lover and the more classic black & white flower lover.

Setting up shop for a few days is never an easy task. Add travelling all the way from Skukuza in the heart of The Kruger National Park to the mix and a husband that has only a day to help you setup before he has to return – can be quite stressful.

Over the last few years Mark has managed to really perfect my stand and how easy it is to put up – from backdrops that fold flat and come with fabric screens (that is easy washable!) that my mom sewed to the shelves and counter that all are ‘flat-packed’. An Ikea dream in a shop.

If you’ve been following Miss Milly for a while you will know that I have always opted for a natural wood for all my stands and it worked as well for Lilly & Lou to really not take away from the products at all.

Even the brackets on the gift tag stand is attached with velcro and the easiest to assemble. He also made all the little wooden stands for the product prices and descriptions.

And let’s not forget the ‘hundreds and thousands’ of plate stands he had to make from dowel sticks. We ran out of wood while he was still making it (very last minute!) in Skukuza and landed up finishing them the night before the show in Pretoria.

One of my favourite things about Kamers is this quote – it really spoke to my heart when I read it many, many years ago.

we’re not into the perfectly made or the mass produced – it’s about high end true craft, slightly imperfect, timeless and originally designed… that special something that is only found at the show.
